$CATS and $DOGS share one market cap.
The pot is fixed at launch. When one side goes up the other side must come down: a market maker sells whichever coin is heavy and buys the one that's light, every second, so the two always add up to the same number. The heavy side is the one on the ground. The heavy side wins.
Right now $CATS is the heavy side, by $200,000.

POSTED AT THE GATE1 One pot
$CATS and $DOGS are launched in the same second with the same opening cap, and the sum of the two caps is written down as the pot. It never changes. Two supplies, two pools, one number.
2 Heavy goes down
Whenever the two caps stop adding up to the pot, the maker sells the side that has run ahead and buys the side that has fallen behind, until they add up again. Your buy of one coin is somebody's sell of the other.
3 Fees feed the middle
Creator rewards from both coins go to the maker's inventory, so it always has enough of each side to lean on. It never holds a net position: whatever it owns in $CATS it is short in $DOGS, and the other way round.
